Reptimate

Back in 2016, I built this genetics calculator in Laravel 5.1. This was a pet project of mine as at the time I was breeding Leopard Geckos and found that a lot of the available genetics calculators were either really old or just not that great, so I worked on something that would bring a bit of a refresh to the whole community.

A lot of the calculations are handled by a couple of additional PHP scripts that work alongside Laravel, I used Laravel to create a user & account system where breeders and hobbyists could create an account, calculate the genetics of a pairing, and save it to their account to come back to later if they needed to. I also implemented Laravel Socialite into the build so that people could use their Facebook profiles to signup/login.

This was my first major Laravel project and I learned a lot through building it. Currently, the site has over 4,000 registered users, has around 3,000 page views each month and has had over 27,500 unique users since it was launched. I haven't really improved on it since it was released so a lot of the code is out of date compared to today's standards, but it still works really well and I'm super proud of it.

That being said, I am currently working on a new design and a new version of it built in Laravel 8 which is a complete rebuild with a few new features - I'm really looking forward to getting this out in the next month or so.
